Last Weekend in Boso Peninsula

Last weekend I went to Tateyama, Boso peninsula in Chiba. It was raining a lot on Saturday and a friend and I didn’t think it’s worth going to see the ocean. It was one of the things we wanted to do there though. Instead, we went to onsen (hot springs) in a quiet place. Nothing fancy but the small and quiet onsen was great for us to relax.

Tateyama is far from central Tokyo. It took more than three hours by local trains. Maybe because of that, it seems Tateyama is not as popular as Izu or Hakone in the same Kanto area.

Raw fish was excellent! We had sushi for lunch on the first day. In the sushi bar, I saw a lot of  different fish from what I  usually see in sushi bars in central Tokyo. All of them were fresh and tasty. We also had raw fish for supper. They were yummy, of course.

On Sunday, sun was shining! We drove along the coast and spent some time at the beach just seeing the ocean. Boso peninsula is well-known for flowers, which I love a lot. There were colorful flowers everywhere and I spent much time to take pictures of them. We also went to strawberry picking. Red strawberries made us smile.

9連休というわけにはいかないけれど　一応GWということで先週末は房総半島、館山に行ってみた。土曜日はあいにくの雨。今回の旅行でやりたかったことの一つ、海を見る、にはあまり向いてない天気だったので予定を変更。ちょっとひなびた感じの温泉に行くことにした。とくに有名って感じでもなくかなり小さい温泉。これが大正解。思いのほかゆっくりリラックスできた。露天風呂の端の屋根の下に腰掛けてしばらく雨を見てぼーっとしたりもして。

館山は千葉県にあるものの結構都心から遠くて往きは各駅停車で3時間以上かかった。（帰りは疲れるので特急にしたけど）　たぶんその遠さのせいで同じ関東でも伊豆とか箱根ほどメジャーになれないのかなーなんて思ったりもした。

ところでさすがに魚は美味！館山駅に着いたのがちょうどお昼だったから駅前の回転寿司屋に直行。いつも行く回転寿司ではみられないようなネタもたくさんあったし　地魚マークのついたお皿はさらに魅力的だった。ペンションでの夕ご飯でもお刺身を満喫。さすが！

2日目の日曜日は朝のうち雲が多かったけれど晴れ。海岸沿いをドライブしたり　海を見ながらボーっとしたり。花で有名な場所だけあってどこに行ってもたくさんの花が咲いていてとてもきれいだったしもちろん写真撮影にも力が入った。お約束な感じのイチゴ狩りも行った。真っ赤ないちごはいかにもおいしそうだったし　実際甘くておいしかった。
