快晴の金曜日。気温はまだ10℃を少し上回った程度だが　気分はとても春、あるいはもう初夏の気分（笑　のヘルシンキ。カフェやパブのテラスは大賑わい。今週も1週間がんばって働いたので自分のご褒美、なにかプチおいしいものが食べたい・・・たとえば、カップケーキとか・・・

TGIF! It was a sunny Friday though wind was still chilly. I wanted to indulge myself as a reward for working another week.

A reward… something which makes me happy… maybe a cupcake?

I remembered my favorite Kanniston Leipomo recently started selling the original cupcakes as well as many other small shops and supermarkets in Finland. (Cupcake boom has finally arrived in Finland!!!)

遅ればせながら、最近ようやくフィンランドにもカップケーキブーム上陸。パン屋といえばスーパーのパン売り場というのが相場のフィンランド。そんな中数少ないほんとのパン屋、そして私がもっとも信頼している店、Kanniston Leipomo の店頭にも最近カップケーキがお目見え。チョイスはストロベリーかチョコレート。迷わずストロベリー。

Between, a strawberry cupcake and a chocolate cupcake, I chose strawberry one which I loved : ) Cupcake was absolutely right choice for indulging myself. The lovely strawberry cream with strawberry chips and the moist cake which reminded me of madeleine and financier made smile! Kannisto is definitely the best bakery in Finland, in my opinion!

おいし～い！このストロベリーのクリーム、ほんとのストロベリーの細かい粒も入っていて、果汁感たっぷり。そして下のスポンジの部分は、おいしい店のマドレーヌのようなしっとり感。（そういえばマドレーヌやフィナンシェもフィンランドでは見かけない、参考まで）　なにもなくてもhappyな気分の金曜のアフター5。太陽の光がまぶしくい店の前のテーブル席（１つしかない!）でまったりしながら素敵なカップケーキと(普通の)コーヒーでさらにHappy! TGIF!

It is a beautiful day, today, though the wind is pretty cold.I saw lovely crocuses at the Esplanade park on the way from Stockmann to Cafe Ursula. Spring must be coming soon! (I'm desperately waiting for some warm weather!)

今日はとてもいい天気。でもまだ風がとても冷たい。暖かい春の日はいつやってくるのだろう・・・　4月も後半なのに、いい加減引っ越したくなるくらい寒い日ばかり。でもエスプラナーデ公園でこんなかわいらしいクロッカスを発見。きっともうすぐ暖かくなるのだろう、いやきっとなる！と信じるしかない（笑

さてさてエスプラナーデをぶらぶらしながら横切り、向かったのは海に面したCafe Ursula。この白い屋根でおなじみ、そして映画 'かもめ食堂'　でとても有名。テラス席があるので夏はとてもいい感じ。そしてとても混雑。今日はテラス席じゃ寒すぎると思って眺めのいいガラス張りの場所にうまく席を取ったわれわれ。温室効果でこんどはかなり暑い。

Ursula was busy with a lot of people trying to get the good table with ocean view. We thought it was too cold to be outside but many people were in the terrace. We sat at the table inside but with a great view to the ocean though it was really hot inside for the green house effect. (the section we were was surrounded by glass windows and the glass ceiling.)

Though our coffee break was much shorter than usual for the hot temperature inside, I enjoyed the short break with Karelian pie and a cup of coffee. And I am hoping spring will come soon!

温度の調整は難しいものの、Ursula　のスナックはいつもおいしくて、海の眺めも素敵！私は久しぶりにお米のパイ、カレリアパイとコーヒーでおやつ。これはちなみにフィンランドの名物。まだ食べたことのない人はぜひ！東京でも青山の紀伊国屋で購入可能。（フィンランドではどこでも売ってる普通の食べ物ながら、紀伊国屋で売られると高級食品・・・ということで値段も高級（笑）。ちなみにカレリアというのはこのパイがフィンランドの東部、カレリア地方の伝統的な食べ物ということからきている。

だいぶ室内が暑くなってしまったので長居はせずに短いコーヒーブレーク。いつものように海沿いを歩いて帰宅。これから暖かくなるとUrsulaももっともっと大混雑するのだな～。もうすっかり忘れてしまった夏のころのヘルシンキ・・・もうすぐやってくるんだな～　(もうすぐだといいな・・)

Fleuriste　- Super Lovely Cafe in My Neighbourhood

In the suny afternoon, a friend and I went to the cafe, Fleuriste, in our neighbourhood first time. My expectation has been high since I read about the cafe combined with the flower shop at the Visit Helsinki's blog. And it was indeed the lovely cafe! I liked the serenity of the place and hospitality of the staff.

ヘルシンキにも素敵なカフェが増えてきた。喜ばしい限り。昨日の寂しくて寒い天気（ヘルシンキ近郊でも場所によってはみぞれもちらついたし、吹雪になったという話も。）とは打って変わって青空になった今日、近所に住む友達と近所にあって気になっていたカフェ　Fleuriste に行ってみた。花屋とカフェを組み合わせたこの店、Visit Helsinkiのブログで読んで、きっと素敵なお店に違いないと思っていたが、その通り。とても素敵なお店だった。落ち着いた感じかつかわいらしいインテリア。それに店の人もとても親切。行ったらほっとするカフェという感じ。

そして私はサンドイッチ。シンプルだけどおいしかった。 And I enjoyed the simple but tasty sandwiches.

私たちは食べなかったけど周りの人がほとんど頼んでいた16€のブランチも気になるところ。次回はぜひ。週に1回は行って落ち着きたい感じである。

Almost all other customers were having brunch of 16€ (I think they had juice, coffee/tea/cappuccino/latte, yogurt with some fruits, salad and bread and puddings!) and I will definitely try it next time. I am so glad there is another lovely cafe in the neighbourhood!!!

さて、イスタンブールでも和食のクオリティチェック。（なぜわざわざ海外で和食なのかということについては前回のパリ旅行のときにポストJapan in Parisを参照のこと。）出発前にぐぐってみたところ、あまり期待できない感じ。有名どころのホテルにある和食屋くらいしかヒットしなかった。でも　今回の旅でとても役に立った “Time Out Short List”　（ガイドブック）に１件だけ載っていた和食の店、Tokyo Restaurant。期待以上の味！っていうかとても美味！寿司セットにはいつもなかなか食べられないうなぎもデフォルト。サーモンならフィンランドが一番と思っていたのに、実はここのサーモンのほうがおいしかったし。魚の名前は全然分からなかったけど、白身の魚もおいしかった。このお寿司のセットは、握り盛り合わせ。12巻で47トルコリラ（20€くらい)。

I didn't forget to try Japanese food in Istanbul. (If you wonder why I dare to eat Japanese food when I travel somewhere else than Japan, read my post Japan in Paris). My expectation wasn't high as Google didn't give me much interesting information for "Japanese restaurant Istanbul". But "Time Out Shortlist" had the right restaurant in the list. I had yummy Nigiri moriawas at the Tokyo Restaurant : ) It had my favorite unagi which is usually not included in the set in my experience in Europe. Salmon was much better than the ones in Finland though I had thought salmon sushi was the best in Finland. Other fish was also tasty.

（ちなみに店でえらく歓迎してくれて関係ないけど2階にあった和室も見せてくれたので写真を撮っておきました。笑）

さらに日本っぽくTokyo Restaurantのロゴ入りのパッケージに入ったおしぼり、ロゴ入りマッチ、さらにはロゴ入りマグネットももらえたり。あまり余計なものを家に持ち帰りたくない私でも思わず持ち帰ったマグネットはこんな感じで家の冷蔵庫に。

In addition to the good food, I liked their magnet, wet wipe (oshibori), and matches with the logo. I don't usually keep any free gift but I brought back the magnet and it's on my fridge door! It's cute, isn't it?

おしぼりを出してもらったときにとてもうれしかったのがバレバレだったようで、食べ終わってからもまたサービスでおしぼりをもらいました（笑

イスタンブールに行って和食が食べたくなったら、この店お薦め!　(URLはマグネットの写真で確認のこと(笑)

Easter Holiday in Istanbul

先週の金曜日から今日、月曜日まではイースター休暇。会社も休みだけれどお店もほとんど休み。東京に戻って花見を楽しむというのが毎年の恒例だったけれど、今年はずっと行ってみたいと思っていたイスタンブールに行ってみた。エキゾチックな場所というくらいしかイメージがなかった場所。行ってびっくり。すごく素敵は街だった・・・有名なモスクや建築物・・・グランバザールを始めたくさんのバザール。でも一番おもしろかったのは街の様子。観光客も地元の人も混じってとにかく活気がある。天気にも恵まれて真っ青な空とそこここに咲く色とりどりの花・・・芝生のグリーン。海の青。店の呼び込み。おいしそうな料理のにおい・・・色鮮やかな陶器やランプ・・・そんな場所での写真撮影は盛り上がりっぱなし。ほんと楽しかった！

I had a wonderful Easter holiday in Istanbul. Since I moved to Helsinki, I had always flown to Tokyo to see the best time of the year, cherry blossom season but this year, I decided to spent the weekend in the country where I hadn't been to and wanted to go. I knew little about the country but had image of somewhere exotic. Indeed, it was exotic but it had much more than just exotic. Istanbul has all those famous mosques, museums and bazaars. But more than anything, I liked the lively streets and parks where there were a lot of people, both locals and tourists, shops and restaurants. Rather than spending much time at the famous sightseeing spots, I walked a lot and took pictures. And I am thinking about next time already now when I just came home : )

イースター休暇はイスタンブールで過ごす。出発は夕方のフライト。その前に家でゆっくり。ランチはこんなものだったいりする（笑　フィンランドの普通のスーパーで買えるおそば。おつゆは友達が日本から持って来てくれた本格派で。

We had some more snow today. But the sky was cleared up some time in the afternoon (I was crazily working and didn't notice it till evening) and evening was really beautiful.
今日もまた雪。でもいつの間にか青空に・・・。あまりにも忙しく働いていたのでいつのまにこんな晴れ上がったのかまったく気づかなかったけど、夕方は空気も澄んでとても素敵な感じに・・・でも寒かった！

Already Spring or Still Winter? …and Smoothies at Kawa Cafe @ Helsinki

The days are lengthened day by day…Sun wasn't totally set yet at 20:30 last Saturday (photo↓). Even though temperature was still low, we started feeling spring in the air…

どんどん日が長くなっていく今日この頃。夜の8時半でもまだ完全に日が暮れていなくて、こんな感じ（↓）。気温はまだまだ低いけど、なんだか春の気配・・・

But … today I was surprised to see snow on the street (photo↓)! And we had more snow later today (no photo).

と　思っていたのも束の間。今朝起きてびっくり・・・なんだか見慣れた風景（↓）。またしても雪！そして昼過ぎからさらに大雪　（残念ながら写真はないのでご想像ください）・・・

After the joyful yoga class, I had a lovely smoothie evening with yoga friends at Kawa cafe wondering if it was already spring or still winter. These are green smoothie and goji berry + blueberry smoothie.

もう春が来たのか、まだ（真）冬なのか、そんなことを話しながら夕方はヨガクラスの後にKawa cafe でヨガ友とスムージー。私はいつものグリーンスムージー、ヨガ友は流行り（少なくともフィンランドでは）のゴジベリーとブルーベリーのスムージー（あずきを髣髴させる色！）。

Is tomorrow going to be springy or snowy…? You never know!

さて明日はどんな天気になるのだろうか・・・
