What came to my mind, when I decided to go to Scotland, were castles, whisky and Loch Ness (just a short list). After the exciting football match day, a friend and I spent a day in the old town and another day in the Highlands. We joined a bus tour which took us from the hotel we were staying in Edinburgh to the Loch Ness passing through the Highlands. It was long day starting with 7:25 am pick-up.
スコットランドといえば・・・お城とウィスキーと・・・ネス湖 （だけではないと思うけど とりあえずすぐ思いつくものとして)。オリンピックのサッカーの試合に行ったあとの2日間、1日はオールドタウン、そしてもう1日はハイランドとネス湖へバスの旅。朝の7時25分ホテルピックアップで始まった長い長いバスの旅。宿泊していたエジンバラの街に戻ってきたのは夕方8時近く。思っていたよりはるかに長旅。
After the long bus ride, we arrived at Loch Ness where we took 45-min cruise in the lake. It started raining heavily when we got on the boat. The atmosphere was as if Nessi would appear… But suddenly sky cleared up and became beautiful blue! I went out to the deck and took a lot of pictures excited about the lovely scenery! Reflection of blue sky, white clouds and green woods was amazing! (at this point, I totally forgot about Nessie 😉
せっかくだから見てみたいと思っていたネス湖で45分間のクルーズ。最初は大雨。いかにもネッシーが出てきそうな天気、とてもじゃないけどデッキで周りを見渡したりはできない感じ。雰囲気だけでも楽しめればいいかと思ったけど途中で雨があがり今度はすごい青空。青空と白い雲と緑の森とまわりの風景がすべて水面に反射してとてもきれい。ネッシーは見れなかったけど、その素敵な風景に盛り上がって山ほど同じような写真を撮影。（下の写真がその中の1枚)
エジンバラからネス湖はとても遠い場所にあったので1日のうちのほとんどの時間をバスの中で過ごした。窓の外にはハイランドの素敵な風景が広がり、ああここでバスから降りたいと何度思ったことか・・・1日でそんな遠くまで行って帰ってくるというのはあまりいいアイディアじゃなかったみたい。最後のほうはバスに座り疲れたしね。次回またスコットランドに行く機会があったら今度は別のツアー会社がやっているハイランド5日間に参加したいともう帰ってくる前から思っていたりするのだった（笑
We stopped at several places in the Highland but most of the time, we were on the bus. Looking at the beautiful scenery of Highlands, I wanted to get off the bus many times! But unfortunately, it was a long way to Loch Ness… This tour is good to go through many things in one day but if I went there again, I would take another tour which would allow me to take enough time to enjoy scenery and taking picture. Not a day trip but 5-day trip which I found in the brochure.
ちなみに下の写真はその1日の中で数少ないバスから降りて写真を撮れた場所の１つ、 ブレア城。ここでの時間はたったの10分だったので遠くから写真を撮るのみ。
The castle in the below photo is the Blair Castle. We had 10 minutes to take photos getting of the bus. But the time was, of course, not enough to reach the castle.
